The 3116 Public Meeting Summaries cover public meetings that the Department of Energy (DOE) and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) periodically host to provide the status of activities associated with waste determinations under Section 3116 (a) of the Ronald W. Reagan National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2005.
The Generic Technical Issues Summaries cover the informal technical discussions between representatives of the Department of Energy (DOE), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and as appropriate State regulatory agencies to discuss the following generic technical topics concerning DOE’s performance assessments: point of compliance, concentration averaging, model support, sensitivity and uncertainty analysis, cumulative impacts, estimating waste inventory and waste tank characterization, long term grout performance, and long-term engineered cap performance. These are ongoing technical discussions intended to facilitate the exchange of information between the agencies and foster an enhanced understanding of generic technical approaches and methodologies. The meetings take place in advance of and apart from any specific draft waste determination basis document that may be the subject of consultation with NRC and public review and comment. DOE prepares a summary of the discussions regarding each generic technical issue.
